Mumbai date.13 : The Measles - Rubella vaccination mission is getting good response in the state . The Health Minister Dr Deepak Sawant today got both his grandchildren vaccinated with Measles - Rubella dose and delivered a positive message through his positive action. The Health Minister remained present in the vaccination session organized at the C N M S school at Ville Parle and got his grand children too studying in that school inoculated.
The Measles and Rubella vaccination drive has commenced in the state since 27th of November. Currently vaccination of students studying in schools is in progress in the six week vaccination drive. The targete is to vaccinate ten lakh children daily in the state. One and half crore students have been vaccinated till date and the state has achieved 45 % of its aggregate target.
There is some confusion amongst the parents due to some misunderstanding with respect to this vaccination drive and in some instances the parents have refused to get their children vaccinated. However the Health Minister had stated in a press conference that the vaccine is totally safe and that he would be getting his own grand children vaccinated in this Rubella - Measles vaccination drive. Accordingly Mumbai Municipal Corporation had organized the Measles Rubella vaccination drive at C N M S School in Ville Parle . The Health Minister Dr Sawant was personally present for the vaccination drive. Health Minister Dr Sawant's grand daughter Riya (age 7 years) is studying in first standard and grand son Rohit (age four years ) is studying in K G standard in this school. Both the grand children were vaccinated at 11 :00 A M in the morning today in the presence of their grand father. Both the grand children got themselves vaccinated sitting in the laps of their Health Minister grand father. Health Minister Dr Deepak Sawant's son Dr Swapnesh Sawant and daughter in Law Anushka were present for the occasion. .
The Health Minister appealed to the parents to vaccinate their children with Measles Rubella vaccine at the earliest without having any misunderstandings about the vaccine.
